Wave Tips

I've been so busy this week with my new job that I could only do a quick design this week!

Started out with a coat of cloudy clear polish that I have no use for; top coats become cloudy when other polishes mix into it. This can be avoided if you "tickle" the top coat brush over the nail.

I used a small brush to paint on blue French tips and waves using Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Pacific Rim. And then a clear coat - not the cloudy polish- to finish it off.

FIFA

Hey all, this is a week old design, but I have not had time to write about it. As you are well aware by now, the FIFA World Cup in Brazil ended last Sunday with German defeating the Argentinians 1 to 0. I decided to do a closure design for the cup since I didn't do one when it was underway.

I used two coats of Sinful Colors' Snow Me White - they're a bit worn along the edges from a weeks wear.

I did a simplified version of the official FIFA 2014 ball design on the thumb, Brasil on the pointer, a simplified Germany logo on the middle finger, and 2014 on the ring. The pinky got a lame soccer ball design, but who can really draw / paint that accurately?? All of the nail art was done in acrylics.

Clear coat shown above on to seal down the paint!

Bar Graph

I haven't had time to do any nail art this week, so I thought I would post a mani I did a few years ago. I went to a concert last night, so I'll be creating a mani for it soon!

I used two or three coats of Sally Hansen's Hard as Nails Sheer Vanilla. I used red, white, grey, and black paint to make various sized bar graph lines with a striper brush. I used a super old Wet N Wild glitter polish on top of the lines. The glitter is microscopic; I have not seen a glitter polish like this in stores these days.

I based this mani off of someone else's design, but I can't remember who it was.

Night Sky

I originally wanted to paint fireworks on a night sky background, but I didn't have enough time to work out all of the details of the mani. I'll have to try them next 4th of July!

I did two coats of Sinful Colors' Midnight Blue as the base. I then sponged on Sinful Colors' Black on Black on top of it along with Midnight Blue to blend them together. I painted on different stars onto the black and topped it off with a clear coat.

The dark colors blended into each other to create one dark shade, so it's hard to discern the blue from the black polishes. Definitely not my best work, but I'll need to try a galaxy design soon.

4th of July

Happy 4th of July to all those in the US; I hope you have a fun celebration with friends / family!

Today's 4th inspired nails uses two coats of Sally Hansen's Hard as Nails Hard to Get - a white polish - on my sister's nails.

I painted the middle finger by taping off the tip and painting on Midnight Blue over the white polish. Once it dried, I free handed the tiny, white stars and the red stripes with paint and a ling striper brush. The rest of the nails had the opposite design: blue, starred tips with white and red stripped nails. The tips were done using blue acrylic paint instead of polish fyi.

I absolutely adore this design!! I've never done anything as small and detailed as these stars, so excited and proud!
