Orange Corner

Another unwanted break from blogging and nails...

I used two coats of wet n wild's Club Havana on top of a layer of peel-off base. I used a striping brush to apply a neon, glittery, light orange that I bought at TJ Maxx.

I went to bed when my nails had not set fully, so the design on my pointer and middle finger were damaged. Instead of starting over again, I rubbed off some of the top coat and re-did bits of the design. SO, if it looks like the polish is lumpy, it's because it was!

Another design I need to recreate!

Retro Heptagon

Today's mani was inspired by a tack board that my friend made me for my 14th birthday. It has a neat pattern on it that I wanted to try out - here we go!

I first put down a coat of peel-off base before applying two coats of Sinful Colors' Open Seas.

Once that dried I used a dotting tool and a striping brush to create the design in Sinful Colors' Nirvana, Mint Tropics, and Wet n Wild's Under Your Spell

I really love how this turned out! I will definitely recreate this mani with different colors! And Mint Tropics is soo cute; come spring I will be doing a design with it as the base color.

Purple Dots

I started off with two coats of an old nude polish before cracking out my Sally Hansen dotting / marbling tool that I got way back in June for my birthday!  It also came with a detail brush and striping brush along with a stencil.

I used Sinful Colors' Hot Wired, Candy Coated, Amethyst, and Tokyo Pearl for dots that covered all of my nails. I thought afterward that I should have had an accent nail with a solid polish since the dots are so busy.

NYC's Matte Me Crazy to top it off!

Orny Adams

 Ahhhh! Such an amazing night!!

I went to House of Comedy at the Mall of America to watch Orny Adams perform live comedy. Orny plays Coach on Teen Wolf, and if you have seen the show, you know that his character is hilarious. Seeing him live will not disappoint! He is just like Coach: loud, crazy, and lovable.

After the show, he sold his own merch, signed tickets, and took photos with people. Here's Orny, my sister (right), and myself (left). Plus, I got a good hug out of him!

My signed ticket with just my initial since "Tamara" wouldn't fit on the tiny ticket.

My best friend Kelly with her signed "SHUT IT" shirt!! Seeing her reaction to Orny made my night even better! Love you, Kel.(:

Regal

Pantone's color of the year is a color called Marsala, the name I have never heard of, but the color I know well. Marsala was described by the company was a, "a naturally robust and earthy wine red”, and it's just a freaking gorgeous color!! I used two coats of Wet n Wild's Haze of Love to begin with. Marsala is such a royal color that I decided to search for a plate engraving that inspired that look.

I chose the middle pattern below that made me think immediately of a fleur-de-lis, so I had to use it. I used Sinful Colors' Gold Medal for the stamp transfers on the pointer and middle finger.

On my other nails, I used Gold Medal to frame out the nail bed using a striper brush which I haven't done with polish yet.

Man, oh man.. how I really love this look!! I haven't been into darker tones of polish in the past, but I've found myself wearing black and richer tones the past few months. That's winter for ya!

Peel Off Base

On Friday I finally made my own peel off base coat that I saw on Nailasauras's blog. I always hate rubbing at my nails to get my polish off, so when I saw this I was over the moon!

I followed the same steps that Nailasauras listed: thoroughly clean a used bottle and brush of polish with acetone, rinse with water after all of the polish is flushed out, and then squeeze Elmer's glue into it. I added some water as well because the glue I used was thick from lack of use.

All you have to do is apply a coat of this baby before the polish that you want. I applied the peel off base and a coat of NYC's Columbus Circle Crimson on Friday night without realizing that I had to work the next day.

Here's a quick before shot before work..

... And this is what I came home with after 6 1/2 hours of cashiering.
Well.. I know it works!! My nail would hit against the register causing half of the polish to easily pop off of my nail. My fault!

I learned my lesson: only use the peel off base on glitters and when I have time to paint and design my nails in one day! Peeling the polish did not damage my nails at all; my ring finger does look bad, however that happened before this test.

2015

Happy New Year, everyone!
I hope you all had a fulfilling 2014 and that you in each and every moment of 2015 to the fullest.

I used a layer of top coat before applying a coat of Sinful Colors' All About You. After that I painted on "2015" using a paint brush and two applications of Cold Leather. I applied the glitter over that in a gradient style so the glitter was thicker at the tips. No top coat on this one since the glitter polishes I own are mostly top coat!
