Newsprint Technique

Here's the play-by-play on how to do newspaper print nails that I promised you all!

I have on the same Sally Hansen's Sheer Me Now from the Newspaper Kiss mani. You can use any polish you want: experiment with different shades and colors to see what you like best.

Supplies you will need:
-Some type of rubbing alcohol
-Medicine cup / small container for the rubbing alcohol
-Clippings of  newspaper the general size of your nail
-Clear coat

Step One:
Pour out enough rubbing alcohol for your nail to be completely submerged. Dip your nail in for ten seconds.

Step Two:
Take your nail out and immediately press a newspaper clipping onto the nail, making sure that the newspaper is  sticking to every part of the nail. Apply pressure from above and below the nail with your opposite thumb and pointer fingers to ensure the print comes clear and opaque.

Step Three:
Peel away the newspaper. If you press hard enough, bits of the paper stick to the nail. This may be a good or bad effect depending on if you want that authentic look compared to a clean look. Note that the words are reversed on the nails.

Step Four:
Repeat the steps.
Apply a clear coat once all of your nails are complete.

Once you have mastered these steps, you can add stamps over it, or paint a design. Play around with it and have fun!

Let me know if you have any additional questions.
